Kasarani Tragedy: 21-Year-Old Casual Laborer Among Three Arrested in Connection with Employer’s Death
A 21-year-old man suspected of murdering his employer, 78-year-old Catherine Waceke Kimotho, on November 10 in Kasarani’s Njathaini area has been arrested alongside two others.
Authorities apprehended the suspect in Kinoo, Kiambu County, where he was hiding with a cousin, who was also detained.
The tragic incident unfolded after Kimotho was reported missing, with her body later found wrapped in a blanket and dumped in a septic tank near her cowshed. Preliminary findings show that she suffered head injuries, likely from a blunt object.

Police suspect a payment dispute may have triggered the incident, as the young laborer, employed for just a month, allegedly had grievances over unpaid wages.
Further investigations led detectives to Githurai 44, where they recovered Kimotho’s phone at a repair shop and arrested the individual in possession. All three suspects are currently held at Kasarani Police Station, awaiting their court appearance, as detectives work to uncover the motive behind this heinous crime.
