19 officials supervising the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams at Kebabe SDA Mixed Day and Boarding High School in Kisii County have been suspended due to the discovery of widespread cheating at the school.
Among those suspended are the school’s Center Manager, Deputy Center Manager, two supervisors, and 15 invigilators, following the confiscation of mobile phones and unauthorized exam materials, including answers and shorthand notes, within the school premises.

The incident came to light when a Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) officer conducting routine checks at the school discovered the illicit materials. According to a police report, the officer found 31 mobile phones in a boys’ dormitory and three more in an examination room with questions and answers for that day’s Biology and CRE exams.
Additional shorthand notes, which contained content similar to the ongoing exams, were also found.

Authorities quickly alerted the Sub County Director of Education, who sent a team to the school to secure the materials, which were subsequently handed over to the DCI in Kenyenya, Kisii County, now overseeing the investigation.
