The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a man for impersonating the Personal Assistant to the County Secretary of Nairobi City County.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, September 25, the commission revealed that William Otieno Okoth had solicited a Ksh. 100,000 bribe from a complainant seeking a job opportunity for his wife.
According to the EACC, Okoth claimed that the payment would help secure the complainant’s wife a position as a cleaner within the County Government.
The commission stated that the suspect misled the complainant into believing that, as the “PA to the CS,” he had significant influence over County affairs and could arrange for the issuance of an employment letter in exchange for the bribe.
After this encounter, the complainant reported the incident to the EACC, which then conducted an operation leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Okoth was apprehended outside Trattoria Restaurant in the Central Business District after accepting the bribe, which he referred to as “tea.”
Following his arrest, he was taken to the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station for processing before being transferred to Kilimani Police Station.
