Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has officially pledged his support for President William Ruto, calling on residents of the Mt. Kenya region to rally behind the government.
Njenga made this announcement during a New Year’s Eve prayer meeting held at the Kabiruini Showground in Nyeri.
In his address, he underscored the importance of collaboration between the youth and government leaders to drive grassroots development.
He dismissed claims of political discord in the region following the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, asserting that the region remains united under the government. Njenga noted that only one individual had defected from the Kenya Kwanza administration, emphasizing the need for solidarity.

Introducing what he termed the “Kabiruini Declaration,” Njenga encouraged young people to commit to working closely with the government to achieve development goals.
He highlighted the importance of supporting elected leaders and safeguarding resources like the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to benefit local communities.
You recently saw the President visit Uhuru in Gatundu. Several cabinet secretaries were named afterwards, and we believe this new unity will steer the region forward. With CS Mutahi Kagwe at the helm, we are confident the coffee and tea sectors will be revived.

Njenga also criticized Gachagua for failing to address critical issues affecting the coffee and tea sectors—industries vital to the Mt. Kenya economy. He expressed hope for revitalizing these sectors through enhanced collaboration among leaders, including President Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
