Digital cartoonist Gideon Kibet, widely known as Kibet Bull for his viral caricatured silhouettes of President William Ruto, has been released following his abduction in Nairobi.
Kibet was reportedly abducted by suspected security agents on December 24, 2024, shortly after meeting Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah at the senator’s Nairobi office. His family confirmed his safe return on Monday, stating that he has since traveled back to Nakuru.

In a post on the social media platform X, Kibet recounted his ordeal, revealing that he was abandoned in the Luanda area of Vihiga County between 3 and 4 a.m. on Monday. Stranded and unsure of his next steps, he attended a local “disco matanga” (an overnight funeral dance) before securing a bus ticket home.
“They dropped me in Luanda Vihiga at 3-4AM Leo. Sikuwa najua where to enter or book a room. Kidogo form ya Disco Matanga came in, danced mpaka 6AM when I went to book a ticket”
Kibet’s release is the latest in a string of disappearances and reappearances across the country, highlighting concerns over the growing trend of abductions. This incident marks the fifth recent case of missing persons resurfacing in distant locations under mysterious circumstances.
On Monday morning, the families of Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, and Rony Kiplangat reported contact with their missing loved ones. Mwangi and Muteti have already reunited with their families. Citizen Digital confirmed that Kiplangat, abducted in Nairobi, was located in Machakos County, while Kavuli, who went missing in Ngong, was found in Kitale.
