A senior official of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Aisha Akinyi Abubakar, has been killed in a robbery at her home in Mombasa, leaving her 18-year-old son, Khasim Hassan, severely injured.

According to a police report, two suspects broke into the house early Sunday morning, armed with a crowbar and a knife. They gained entry by cutting the kitchen window grills. One suspect wore a mask during the attack.
The assailants inflicted severe injuries on Aisha, cutting her head above the right eye, and wounded Khasim’s head with the knife. They stole a Samsung A15 mobile phone, a 65-inch Samsung TV, a sound system, an iPad, and a Samsung A21 before fleeing the scene.

Despite his injuries, Khasim managed to drive his mother to Premier Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. He received treatment and remains in stable condition, though he has not yet been discharged.
Police have launched an investigation and are conducting a manhunt to apprehend the suspects.
