An unspecified number of KDF officers were injured in a truck accident on the Karatina-Sagana highway Monday morning.
Kirinyaga West sub-county police commander Moses Kosgei reported that the officers were en route from Nyeri to Nairobi when the accident occurred between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. Due to heavy fog in the area, the truck driver may have missed a bump near Kibingoti, causing the vehicle to lose control and roll over.
Kosgei stated that further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident and the total number of injuries. “It appears to have been a single-vehicle accident, and thankfully, there were no fatalities. We are still confirming the number of injured individuals, as they were taken to various local health facilities,” he told The Star.
Eyewitnesses reported that 12 injured officers were transported to Naji Private Hospital, while 13 others were taken to Karatina General Hospital for treatment.
