The National Youth Service (NYS) was established as part of Kenya’s transition from a colony to an independent nation. Originally, NYS was created to support and resettle young Kenyans who had been disadvantaged by the struggle for independence.
The agency was tasked with training young men and women to serve the nation and deploying service members for tasks of national importance and community service. Over time, NYS has continued to play a vital role in providing opportunities for youth while contributing to various national projects and initiatives.
