Reality TV sensation Kevin Kioko, better known as Bahati, delivered a poignant speech during the launch of his newest venture, “The Bahati’s Empire,” slated for premiere on Netflix. Amidst heartfelt revelations, he recounted his humble beginnings and the relentless pursuit of a better life.

Addressing Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the guest of honor, Bahati took attendees on a journey through his past. Emotionally, he revisited the circumstances that led him to seek refuge in a children’s home despite one parent still being present.

“I hail from Mathare, where I once resided, in Ngei Ward near Huruma, Your Excellency. I’ve always been a go-getter,” shared the father of five, setting the tone for his narrative.

He continued by recounting the loss of his mother at a tender age, a devastating blow that shattered his family. The tragedy didn’t end there; following his mother’s passing, his father remarried and left, leaving Bahati and his siblings to fend for themselves.

“I was only 7 years old when I lost my mother… After her passing, my father remarried and relocated, leaving us to navigate life on our own. That’s how I found myself at ABC Kenya Children’s Home. I pursued my education there, and while I was in 8th grade, I received a call… still at the children’s home.”

During this time, Bahati had never laid eyes on his father. Yet, he received the heart-wrenching news of his father’s passing, compelling him to confront the reality of his absence and bid him farewell.

Concluding his narrative, the digital content creator disclosed that despite his father’s silent departure, he honored the call to bid his final farewells. Following the burial, he made a solemn vow to himself.

“I escaped from the children’s home to attend the funeral. Your Excellency, on that day, I made a promise to myself… My elder brother Kioko harbored bitterness, knowing the hardships we endured in the slums.

But I resolved to seize every opportunity that came my way. After the funeral, I returned to the children’s home until completing high school. Then, I found myself back on the streets. I recall a period when I lived at Mr. Seed’s mother’s house before venturing into music.

I may not be the most talented vocalist in the country, but I’ve always strived to give my best in everything I do,” shared the reality TV star, reflecting on his journey and marveling at how he fulfilled his vow, turning his dreams into reality.
