Gen. Kahariri will succeed Gen. Ogolla, who tragically lost his life in a plane crash last month. Notably, Gen. Kahariri hails from the Navy.
With this elevation, Gen. Kahariri ascends to the prestigious position of a four-star General, the highest rank within the uniformed forces.

In addition to Gen. Kahariri’s appointment, President Ruto also promoted Major General John Omenda to the rank of Lieutenant General, designating him as the new Vice Chief of the Defence Forces. Lt General Omenda previously served as the Kenya Airforce Commander.
Major General Paul Owuor Otieno has meanwhile been promoted to be Kenya Navy Commander.
