On Wednesday, May 22, President Joe Biden welcomed President William Ruto to the White House in Washington, D.C., for a roundtable discussion on technology.
President Ruto praised the United States for its increased investment in the digital realm, noting that it will not only enhance opportunities but also revolutionize lives, both within Kenya and throughout Africa.
“No alliance holds as much significance as one rooted in technology,” he remarked.
Subsequently, President Ruto convened with Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson and interacted with members of Congress, spanning both Democratic and Republican affiliations, at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
He also engaged in discussions with U.S. Senators, headed by Majority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell.
President Ruto was honored as an Honorary Member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC).
The Head of State recognized the crucial role played by the Congressional Black Caucus in advancing social justice, human rights, and global economic development.
He urged Congress to spearhead the restructuring of the global financial system to ensure power isn’t concentrated in the hands of a select few.
“A bold, comprehensive, and targeted approach will alleviate Africa’s debt burden and catalyze global transformation,” he emphasized.
