Manager, Laboratory Services
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Medical Services, the Laboratory Manager will assist with the administration and oversight of all aspects of the Laboratory Department amongst the following other responsibilities
Main Duties
- Developing and translating Laboratory policies and procedures into daily operations
- Aligning departmental objectives to the Hospital Strategic Plan and engaging staff towards achieving the objectives
- Developing the section’s budget in liaison with the Director of Medical Services for approval by management
- In liaison with the Director of Medical Services, initiating procurement of Laboratory equipment and supplies
- Developing, monitoring, and maintaining an inventory of Laboratory resources
- Ensuring operations conform to Quality Management requirements and engaging activities for continuous quality Improvement
- Monitoring department’s operations and performance and preparing reports for management
- Liaising with the marketing department to market laboratory services
- Participating in the education and training of paramedical and other staff through Continuous Medical Education programs
- Implementing new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; Preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing; and monitoring progress
- Maintaining medical laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
- Providing administrative support for the hospital by acting as manager on call
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required
- Any other duty assigned from time to time
Required Qualifications for the Position
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory
- 10 years experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist & 3 years in a Leadership position
- Computer Proficiency
- Registered with KMLTTB with a valid practicing license
Catering Manager
Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Catering Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and developing the food and beverage services while meeting client expectations, food and hygiene standards, and financial targets and supporting the functions of the Hospital among the following other responsibilities
Main Duties
- Planning patient’s food and beverage menus in consultation with the Nutritionist, chefs, and cooks, according to customers’ dietary needs in the Hospital
- Ensuring maintenance of food stock levels and ordering new supplies as required in the kitchen and other catering areas of the Hospital
- Implementation of Catering procedures and policies
- Inspection and coordination of repairs and maintenance in the department
- Analyzing, monitoring, and evaluating department revenue margins
- Ensure proper storage of foodstuff in the kitchen store to retain their quality and nutritional values and thus meet patients’ nutrition and dietary needs of the clients
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure quality and timely kitchen supplies delivery at the University
- Identifying and developing objectives for the catering services in the hospital
- Responsible for manpower planning and performance Management of all catering staff
- Coordinating catering processes and organizing work plans/Rotas, including leave and daily duty schedules for service personnel
- Ensuring that health and safety regulations are strictly observed in compliance with government and other regulatory bodies
- Keeping abreast of trends and developments in the industry, such as menus or trends in consumer tastes
- Preparing and controlling the catering budget and meeting set financial targets and forecasts while keeping financial and administrative records
- Preparing management reports regarding cost, quality, and any other relevant parameters
- Monitor procedures for audit and feedback of services
Desirable skills, knowledge, and experiences
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or Food and Beverages Science from a recognized
- Higher Diploma in Hotel Management or other Hospitality Services from a recognized institution
- At least five years of working experience as a Catering Manager in a reputable institution
- Trained & Experienced in HACCP Experience in a busy hospital added advantage
- Ability to manage a team and good communication skills
Hospital Engineer – Plant
Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Hospital Engineer is responsible for ensuring continuous service and repairs of plant equipment to attain optimal availability and performance. Proper functioning, safety, and smooth operations of all facilities and repairs are carried out properly and to the required maintenance standards amongst the following other responsibilities
Main Duties
- Provide leadership and guidance to all staff in the Maintenance Department
- Carrying out preventive maintenance and repairs to steam boilers, generating sets, air compressors, lifts, steam systems, and air condition systems
- Carrying out preventive maintenance in electrical distribution systems and plant equipment
- Ensuring all mechanical and electrical operations within the Hospital run optimally
- Developing and implementing planned preventive maintenance programs
- Ensuring regular inspection of plant equipment
- Monitoring utility supplies and ensuring uninterrupted provision to the Hospital
- Developing a Bill of Quantities for works and services required in the Hospital
- Participating in re-call to work service and attending to emergency breakdowns
- Participating in refurbishment committees and overseeing completion of the projects
- Work scheduling and execution for staff and self
- Supervising of staff
- Technical cost containment
- Liaising with external contractors working in the Hospital
- Supervising, handling, and in charge of any works relating to: –
- – Refrigeration and air conditioning
- – Water supply and reticulation systems
- – Laundry equipment
- – Catering equipment
- – Fire equipment
- Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time
Required Qualifications for the Position
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Production/ Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution
- Minimum 12 years’ experience, 5 heading maintenance functions in a busy hospitality industry
- Proven track record in: Energy management, Maintenance management, and Operational costs control
