Millicent Omanga, the former nominated Senator, found herself at the center of online chatter following the unveiling of her latest acquisition: a sleek, brand-new Range Rover Vogue 2024 model in an elegant shade of grey.
Taking to the X platform, she shared snapshots of her new ride, expressing heartfelt gratitude for this milestone. “My new baby. Date of Birth, 2024. All glory to God,” she penned in the caption.
In conversation with Nairobi News, the outspoken politician revealed that her acquisition of the Range Rover 2024 came with a price tag of Sh 50 million.
“I traded in my previous Range Rover and supplemented it to acquire this latest model,” she disclosed.
Omanga’s post set off a flurry of reactions from users on the platform.
While some hailed her display of the luxurious vehicle as a testament to her hard work and success, others offered contrasting views.
Here’s a glimpse of the responses:
Mc Ntonja: “Zero mileage… I claim that favor and blessings.”
Mwalimu Katebes Kibet: “Milli, you keep dazzling us left and right. Congratulations.”
Sydney MorningStar: “Mama Miradi” may be the slogan for public adoration, but in reality, your contributions seem minimal.
Deno Djo: “How much motor vehicle tax will you be paying for this… the proposal is to remove the cap to ensure equitable payments… 5% of the insurance value.”
Responding to the criticism, Omanga asserted that she bears no responsibility for the challenges faced by individuals in the country.
“It’s been two years since I received any government salary, and those assuming government funds financed this purchase should recognize my entrepreneurial endeavors. Do they grasp the extent of my tax contributions?” she retorted.
She further clarified, “No. I contribute significantly, and buying a new car is purely a personal indulgence. I regularly upgrade my vehicles, and if a newer model emerges, I’ll acquire it too. This particular car was a dream come true, hence the purchase.”
Omanga, who was previously appointed as a Chief Administrative Secretary before the court invalidated the position, cited her entrepreneurial ventures as the source of her finances.
