Award-winning rapper and entrepreneur Kennedy Ombima, popularly known as King Kaka, has disclosed that he has invested a substantial sum of Sh6 million into his newly launched series, Monkey Business.
In an interview with Mpasho’s Dennis Milimo, King Kaka revealed that the casting for the series commenced in December of the previous year, with production already underway by January 2024.
“We’ve allocated around Sh6 million between December and now. I’ll crunch the numbers to assess our returns from the premiere of Monkey Business,” King Kaka stated.
He further shared that a total of 162 individuals contributed to the creation of the series, ranging from a minimum of 40 crew members to a maximum of 162 for certain scenes in episode three.
“This marks my second venture into film, and I couldn’t be happier. The turnout today speaks volumes about the enthusiasm and support for the Kenyan film industry,” King Kaka expressed.
When questioned about selecting Scar Mkadinaki as the series’ protagonist, King Kaka explained, “Scar has been a close friend, and his passion for film caught my attention. I encouraged him to explore acting, and after attending acting classes, he excelled.”

The premiere of Monkey Business witnessed an impressive turnout, with fans, the cast, crew, media personnel, and various Kenyan celebrities in attendance.
