108 Employees in Gachagua’s Office Ordered to Go on Compulsory Leave
The ongoing political situation surrounding former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has taken another turn. Following his impeachment, 108 employees from his office have been directed to go on compulsory leave.
Official Notice Issued
A notice issued by Principal Administrative Secretary Patrick Mwangi and copied to Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, instructed employees from various job groups to take immediate leave starting on Saturday, October 19. The leave order came as a result of Gachagua’s impeachment.

Responsibilities Before Leaving
Before going on leave, the officers have been instructed to designate someone in writing to take over their duties. These designations should be copied to the Chief of Staff and the Principal Administrative Secretary.
Officers on supernumerary contracts were also included in the compulsory leave order. Heads of departments must ensure these directives are followed by midnight on Saturday, October 19.
Changes in the Office of the Deputy President
This move is part of the broader changes happening in the Office of the Deputy President, now led by Kithure Kindiki, who replaced Gachagua following his impeachment.
