KDF Soldier Arrested for the Murder of University Student
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier, Joseph Ngera Kamau, for his suspected involvement in the brutal murder of a University of Nairobi student.

- Status: Mercy had been reported missing from her parents’ home in Pipeline, Embakasi on September 28, 2024.
- Discovery: Her body was found in a thicket in Mwiki, Kasarani. She was half-naked with visible injuries, including acid burns on her body.
Injuries and Circumstances

- Bruises on her thighs, buttocks, and left ankle
- Acid burns on her body
- Condition: Found lifeless in an area known as Infinity within Kasarani.
Suspect’s Actions
- Vehicle Used: The suspect allegedly picked Mercy on the night of her disappearance in a vehicle with registration number KDA 796L, which is now being held by the police.
- Interrogation: The suspect is currently being questioned at DCI Kasarani to determine:
- The motive for the crime
- The exact cause of death
- Whether there were any accomplices
