Speaking in Kakamega, the leaders also demanded the unconditional release of protestors arrested on Monday. They further called on the United Nations to suspend Kenya’s membership in the Human Rights Council, accusing the government of blatant human rights violations in recent months.

“Listen to the cry of parents of these young kids. Return these children to their parents, and if by next week you have not, you are going to see the mother of all demonstrations. Tuko tayari kurudi maandamano. Mumias mko tayari?” Wamalwa posed.

Kalonzo reiterated their stance, pledging to continue the fight for justice. “Tunaahidi watu wa Kakamega, watu wa Mumias East na Kenya nzima kwamba sisi hatutarudi nyuma ili tulete ukombozi wa Kenya hii in the people’s year 2025,” he said.

The duo emphasized that the UN should suspend Kenya due to its record of human rights abuses over the past year.

“The rest of the members should suspend Kenya. Because it is doing the opposite na ni aibu kubwa kwa Kenya,” Kalonzo remarked.
