The government has announced plans to establish Attorney General offices in 15 additional counties to decentralize services and enhance accessibility at the regional level.

The new offices will be located in Nyandarua, Narok, Tana River, Tharaka Nithi, Baringo, Trans Nzoia, and Makueni. Others include Lamu, Vihiga, Kajiado, Marsabit, Isiolo, Wajir, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Kiambu.

In a statement, the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice reaffirmed its commitment to promoting good governance and upholding the rule of law through the provision of public legal services and the protection of human rights.

This initiative aligns with Section 6(3)(b) of the Attorney-General Act, which mandates the establishment of regional offices where necessary.

Last year, the Attorney General sought Cabinet approval for the project, which was granted on June 27, 2023, paving the way for implementation across all 47 counties.

Currently, the Attorney General’s offices are operational in 13 counties: Malindi, Mombasa, Garissa, Machakos, Embu, Meru, Nyeri, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu, Kakamega, Kisii, and Kericho.
