Moses Kuria Criticizes Gachagua Over Alleged Betrayal by Ruto
Moses Kuria has publicly responded to comments made by Rigathi Gachagua, who recently claimed to have been betrayed by President William Ruto. In a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Kuria questioned why Gachagua was complaining, especially after warnings were given before the 2022 elections.

Warnings Ignored Before the Elections
Kuria, who serves as a senior adviser in Ruto’s Economic Council, said many leaders from their region had initially pushed to form their own political party to protect their interests. However, Gachagua was against this idea and even fought them politically for trying to establish their own parties.
Some of the leaders who warned Gachagua included:
- Dr. Thuo Mathenge
- William Kabogo
- Peter Munya
- Mwangi wa Iria
- Martha Karua
In Kuria’s words:
“You fought us like burukenge (a type of lizard). Now you want us to cry with you in the opposition.”

Gachagua Replaced by Kindiki
Kuria further advised Gachagua to move on, as he had already been replaced in government.
“We have moved on. Prof. Kithure Kindiki is now the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya,” Kuria added.
Gachagua’s Claims of Betrayal
Earlier, Gachagua expressed his frustration with Ruto, accusing the president of turning against him despite their close relationship during the 2022 elections. Gachagua claimed Ruto had become aggressive, even ordering the withdrawal of his security after he was impeached.
He told the media:
“When I was in the hospital, President William Ruto ordered the withdrawal of my security. I was left without any guards, both in the hospital and at my homes in Nyeri and Karen.”
Gachagua further claimed that his close associates were also disarmed and warned to stay away from him.
“I didn’t know President William Ruto could be that vicious,” he concluded.
