UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala has revealed the names of two ODM Members of Parliament believed to be at the forefront of efforts to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. According to Malala, these two MPs are leading the charge within the opposition to initiate impeachment proceedings against the Deputy President
The move comes amid heightened political tensions, with ODM citing various grievances against Gachagua, including accusations of undermining democratic institutions and overstepping his constitutional mandate. Malala, however, dismissed the attempts as politically motivated, aimed at destabilizing the government.
During a church service at PEFA Church in Thika Town, Kiambu County, on Sunday, September 22, UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala named Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma as the key figures behind the push to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Malala also cautioned President William Ruto, warning that any attempt to turn against his deputy could ultimately lead to his own political downfall.
“I have been informed that the MPs being fronted to table the impeachment motion against Gachagua are Junet Mohamed and Peter Kaluma. I’m telling you, Mr. President, those MPs will start by impeaching Gachagua, then they will turn against you in 2027,” Malala stated.
Wamuchomba, a staunch supporter of Gachagua, criticized leaders determined to undermine the Deputy President.
“There are individuals who wake up each day with a plan to ensure your failure,” she remarked.
She continued, “These same people have now joined forces with ODM leaders to bring a motion to impeach Rigathi Gachagua next week.”
“Mr President I want you to remember the pain we went through looking for that seat (Presidency). Now we want to chase away the deputy president. Here in Mount Kenya when we show faith in our leaders, but we hate betrayal,”.
Wamuchomba alleged that those pushing for Gachagua’s impeachment were the same individuals who had opposed the Kenya Kwanza administration from the start.
