Raila Unveils AUC Manifesto in Addis Ababa, Promises Transformative Vision for Africa

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has pledged to transform the African Union Commission (AUC) into a proactive force driving Africa’s growth and economic development.

Speaking on Friday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as he launched his bid for the AUC chairmanship, Raila emphasized that his leadership would bring meaningful change to the continent.

“My leadership at the AUC will break away from the usual rhetoric, where leaders gather a few times a year only to return to isolated agendas. My vision is grounded in the dreams of our forefathers, who envisioned a united Africa speaking with one voice,” Raila stated.

He criticized the lack of follow-through on AUC resolutions, pointing out that “each year, a General Assembly convenes, planes land, and resolutions are made, but little action follows.”

Raila expressed disappointment that most resolutions remain unimplemented. “Ninety-three percent of resolutions passed here remain words on paper. It has turned into a talk shop. My aim is to change that and ensure these resolutions are effectively carried out,” he affirmed.
