If Ruto betrays me, no one will trust him again – DP Gachagua

If Gachagua is impeached, Ruto must also go, Senator Maanzo.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his allies have continued their attacks on President William Ruto’s camp, as tensions within the Kenya Kwanza administration intensify.

Speaking during a church service in Thika on Sunday, Gachagua cautioned Ruto that if the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is not properly managed, he risks losing the trust of the Mt. Kenya region, a situation that may be beyond repair.

Drawing parallels to the challenges Ruto faced as Deputy President, Gachagua warned that if Ruto permits his allies to undermine him, it would be a betrayal that could destroy Ruto’s credibility, saying no one would ever trust him again.

“Ruto made one promise which does not require any funding, it does not require IMF or the World Bank. He promised that under his watch he would not allow his deputy to be humiliated. If he cannot keep that one promise, then there is no other thing people can trust him with,” Gachagua said.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his allies have also accused Raila Odinga’s ODM party of sowing discord within the Kenya Kwanza coalition. During the same church service, ousted UDA Secretary General Cleopas Malala claimed that Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Homabay Town MP Peter Kaluma are preparing to table an impeachment motion against Gachagua this week.

Several speakers at the event, including Malala, Gathoni wa Muchomba, Karungo Thangwa, and Mejjadonk, argued that if the motion reaches Parliament, it would indicate that President William Ruto had sanctioned it.

Gachagua warned that Ruto stands to lose the support of the Mt. Kenya region if his allies proceed with the impeachment plan against him.

“I want to urge President Ruto to put his house in order and allow us to work. We have a mandate to fulfil to the Kenyan people, we need to get down to work,” he added.
