Award-winning comedian and scriptwriter Eddie Butita has shared insights from his conversation with American actor and TV host Steve Harvey, revealing details of their encounter during a luncheon at Tyler Perry Studios.
The meeting took place in the company of President William Ruto and his accompanying delegation to the US.
For Butita, meeting Steve Harvey fulfilled a dream he had nurtured for over 14 years. “I saw you on YouTube,”
Harvey remarked to Butita during their interaction. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, Butita thanked President Ruto, acknowledging the honor of the connection.
Their discussion extended to ways of enhancing the entertainment industry in Kenya. Butita highlighted their conversations on talent development for business success in showbiz, emphasizing the amalgamation of showmanship and entrepreneurship.
President Ruto, alongside other leaders, visited Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta on Tuesday, where they engaged with the renowned TV host and comedian.
Ahead of their departure for the US, Butita expressed joy and appreciation to the President for the opportunity to be part of the delegation.
Reflecting on his previous interactions with the President, Butita recalled a humorous moment in March when he jokingly advised Ruto to monetize his Facebook page during a meeting with Facebook’s management team at State House.
The comedian playfully suggested that by following his advice, the President could earn ‘some good money after tax.’
Ruto had previously remarked in 2023 that Butita was earning more from content creation than his own take-home salary as head of state, adding a lighthearted element to their ongoing banter.
