Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are currently detaining five suspects in preparation for their court appearance following their arrest for involvement in a deceitful job recruitment scam.
The DCI reports indicate that the suspects targeted approximately 1,000 job seekers, offering them false promises of employment opportunities abroad.
The individuals identified by the nation’s premier investigative agency include Nick Van Opstal, a foreign national, as well as Samuel Marigi, Patrick Wangai, Susan Oluoch, and Christine Muthoni Wangechi.
Following a tip-off from concerned citizens, detectives stationed at the Nairobi Regional Headquarters initiated the pursuit and apprehension of these suspects.
The suspects were operating under two agency names: Alhanawa Jobs and Supply Link Ventures Ltd.
When the detectives arrived, the job seekers had gathered at the KCB sports club grounds.

“In a rapid response by our team, approximately 1000 job seekers were rescued from the clutches of these deceitful operators whose sole aim was to exploit them financially,” stated the DCI.
Investigations revealed that the National Employment Authority had red-flagged both agencies as fraudulent.
Efforts to apprehend other suspects who managed to evade arrest are underway.
The DCI issued a warning to the public, advising against engaging with dubious firms preying on desperate job seekers.
