Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire recently criticized the residents of her county for interrupting President William Ruto during a church service, calling it foolish behavior.
The incident happened at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Mukangu in Embu, where President Ruto was speaking.
As he spoke, some people in the crowd started shouting “Ruto Must Go.”
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua were also present, but Gachagua wasn’t allowed to speak.
Governor Mbarire was clearly upset by the heckling, saying it was disrespectful to the office of the president. She asked how they could ask for development in their county while showing such disrespect.
She stressed the importance of respecting elected leaders and staying calm in public events.
She also mentioned that although people may be angry, they should never reach the point of heckling the president.

She suggested that certain leaders, like Rigathi Gachagua, might be promoting hate politics, which harms the community.
Governor Mbarire encouraged the residents to express their concerns through peaceful talks instead of disruptive actions. She reminded them that they can’t expect development if they keep fighting politically.
She pointed out that other areas like Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, and Kirinyaga have good roads, while Embu has lagged behind.

She also emphasized that the county cannot afford to be excluded from government development projects, especially when other regions are progressing.
Her comments come after growing frustration with the Kenya Kwanza Government, as more people have started to boo and interrupt government leaders.
Earlier in October, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and other UDA leaders faced a similar situation when they were booed by mourners during a funeral in Bahati when they tried to deliver a message from President Ruto.
