Government Drops Passport Booking to Speed Up Collection

Gov’t Temporarily Drops Passport Booking to Speed Up Collection

The government has temporarily removed the booking requirement for collecting passports to make it easier for applicants to pick up their ready documents.

In a statement on Friday, Immigration and Citizen Services PS Julius noted that 65,589 passports remain uncollected at regional immigration offices nationwide.

“The DIS has temporarily suspended booking as a requirement for collecting passports to hasten the process,” the statement read. Applicants whose names are listed in the provided links were urged to collect their passports from the application stations.

The Directorate of Immigration Services (DIS) has implemented several improvements, including:

  • Advanced printers for faster passport production.
  • Additional staff to handle applications.
  • Remodeled collection stations to meet growing demand.

New regional offices have also been opened in Kericho and Bungoma, with plans to expand to Garissa, Nyeri, and Machakos.

The public is encouraged to track their passport status via SMS by sending their eCitizen tracking number to 22222.
