Gachagua Urges Mt Kenya Residents to Maintain Peace Amid Court Ruling

Speaking at a memorial service in Limuru on Wednesday, Gachagua encouraged residents of Mt. Kenya to foster peaceful relationships with other communities.

During the memorial for Mwalimu Geoffrey Murugami, Gachagua stressed the importance of peace in the Mt. Kenya region:

  • He urged supporters not to view other communities as adversaries.
  • He highlighted that there has been no wrongdoing from other regions.
  • “Regardless of the court’s decision, let us remain peaceful,” he said.

Gratitude for Support and Avoiding Protests

Gachagua thanked his followers for staying calm after his impeachment, pointing out that they chose not to protest in the streets:

  • He addressed rumors questioning his support base, stating, “Protests are not our way.”
  • He suggested that, in time, his supporters would have an appropriate response.

Criticism of MPs’ Conduct in Parliament

The Deputy President also shared his observations about MPs’ standing with the public. According to Gachagua, some MPs are no longer welcome to speak at church gatherings due to their actions in Parliament:

  • He suggested that people are unhappy with MPs’ performance.
  • He highlighted that their recent actions have “annoyed” the public.

Support for Key Leaders in Mt. Kenya

Despite his concerns about certain MPs, Gachagua expressed confidence in three leaders whom he described as unbribable:

  • Kiambu Senator Karungo Thangwa
  • Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba
  • Juja MP George Koimburi

“These three leaders stand firm. They can’t be bought,” Gachagua stated, asking supporters to keep them in their prayers.

  • Charges included alleged misconduct, unauthorized wealth accumulation, and undermining the President.

A court ruling recently halted the President’s nomination of a new deputy pending Gachagua’s appeal.
