Comedian Fred Omondi will be laid to rest on Saturday, June 22nd, in Bondo, Nyanza. His passing on June 15th, following a fatal accident along Bypass Road in Nairobi, has deeply saddened his friends and family.
A memorial service in his honor will be held on Friday, June 21st, at Citam Valley Road, preceding the airlifting of his body to Bondo for burial.
Fred, survived by two siblings—Eric Omondi and his sister Irene, who resides in Germany—was a dedicated father to his daughter, co-parenting peacefully with her mother. The siblings were raised by a foster mother after losing their parents at a young age, tragically losing their firstborn brother to drug addiction in 2018.
According to a police report obtained by Nairobi News, Fred was involved in a motorcycle collision with a bus near Caltex petrol station on Kangundo Road early Saturday morning. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital for treatment; his body currently rests at the hospital mortuary pending a postmortem scheduled for Monday, June 17th, at Chiromo Mortuary.
Fred Omondi, known as a Performing Artist and the founder of Big Baba Entertainment, had plans to perform in Meru this weekend. His unexpected passing prompted his older brother Eric Omondi to pay tribute through a poignant song shared on social media, titled “Kasuku,” addressing issues of governance and urging accountability from leaders.
In remembrance, Eric wrote, “Go well brother @fredomondi_.” Fred’s vibrant presence and contributions to the entertainment industry will be deeply missed.
May his soul rest in peace.
