Kidero Returns to Government as Ruto Makes Key Appointments
Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has made a comeback in government, appointed as the Chairperson of the Kenya National Trading Corporation. The announcement was made in a Gazette Notice dated November 15, 2024. Kidero will serve for three years, replacing Hussein Tene Debasso, whose appointment was revoked.
In the same notice, President William Ruto named Anab Mohamed Gure as a member of the Nairobi Rivers Commission. Gure replaces Millicent Omanga, who declined the role.

Other notable appointments include:
- Mark Kosgei Chesergon as Chairperson of the Kerio Valley Development Authority Board.
- Wenwa Akinyi Oranga as Chairperson of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute.
- Thuo Mathenge (Wanguku) as Chairperson of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization Board, replacing Peter Weru Kinyua.
- Teobald Mukundu Wambugu as Chairperson of the Tana Water Works Development Agency Board, replacing James Gathaka Wanyaga.
- Nuh Nassir Abdi as Chairperson of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre Board, replacing Victor Kioko Munyaka.
- Mark Lomunokol as Chairperson of the Sports Kenya Board.
President Ruto also dismissed Lawrence Thongoro Kuria from his role as Chairperson of the Hydrologists Registration Board. All appointments are effective immediately, with most set for a three-year term.
