Comedian Mulamwah: I would be poor if I pursued my nursing career

Comedian Mulamwah

David Oyando, better known as comedian Kendrick Mulamwah, holds a prominent position among digital influencers, with earnings surpassing Sh1 million monthly.

His income experiences fluctuations in tandem with the varying influx of clients he attracts weekly.

In an exclusive phone interview with Nairobi News, Mulamwah discusses his rise to prominence as a digital content creator, reflecting on his transition from aspiring nurse to internet sensation.

When questioned about his digital milestones and potential regrets regarding his abandoned nursing career, Mulamwah confidently asserts, “I harbor no regrets as my journey in content creation has yielded significant accomplishments within a short span.

I doubt I would have achieved comparable success in nursing. Nonetheless, I firmly believe that talent must be complemented by education.”

Elaborating on the symbiotic relationship between talent and education, he emphasizes, “Talent alone is insufficient. One requires educational prowess to decipher contracts and engage with fans effectively. Education should be prioritized.

Despite my comedic pursuits, I remain a nurse by profession, recognizing that talent is transient. For instance, losing one’s voice renders one unemployed, as entertainment necessitates vocal capability. Talent is ephemeral; many educated artists enjoy enduring success.”

Mulamwah discloses his competitive rates and offers counsel to aspiring content creators. “Presently, my fees range from Sh100,000 per post weekly, contingent on contractual specifics.

Certain posts command Sh200,000 each, especially on preferred social media platforms. Rates escalate for multi-platform dissemination. Currently, I collaborate with numerous brands.”

He advises emerging talents to safeguard their intellectual property. “Many artists neglect copyrighting, endangering their creations.

Without protection, earning potential diminishes. Prioritize your work and invest wisely,” advises Mulamwah.

Despite his achievements, Mulamwah maintains humility, citing his preference for public transportation, particularly matatus. “Interactions during commutes inspire content creation, providing diverse perspectives on life,” he explains.

The comedian aspires to leave a legacy of perseverance and success. “I aim to be remembered as someone who transformed adversity into triumph.

By showcasing my investments online, I seek to inspire others through my journey,” Mulamwah concludes.
