Gospel singer Christina Shusho, hailing from Tanzania, recently opened up about her early marriage at the age of 19, shedding light on the reasons behind her decision. Famed for her song “Shusha Nyavu,” she recounted how her mother’s concerns about her striking beauty drove her into matrimony soon after completing her secondary education.
“At 19, I tied the knot, quite young indeed. After finishing Form Four, I was deemed exceptionally beautiful, sparking worries in my mother that I might stray and tarnish our family’s honor,” explained Shusho, reflecting on her youthful allure.
Recalling her past beauty, she remarked, “I may not boast the same radiance now as I did then; I was truly stunning. So, when a suitor approached my mother expressing interest, she consented out of apprehension. Truly, I was a sight to behold.”
In a separate interview, Christina Shusho elaborated on her decision to part ways with her husband, Pastor John Shusho, and remove her wedding ring, linking her actions to her unwavering dedication to her ministry.
“I’ve always upheld honesty and truth. The reality is, it’s simply a divine calling. Nothing else has shifted. The tasks bestowed upon me demanded a departure from my current path to fulfill the mission,” she candidly revealed, citing her visions as the driving force behind the amicable dissolution of her marriage.
Furthermore, Shusho clarified that she does not identify as a pastor, expressing discontent with the label.
